Promoting a safer church

The care and protection of children, young people and adults involved in Church activities is the responsibility of everyone who participates in the life of the Church. If you are concerned that someone you know is at risk of, or is being abused, or presents a risk to others, please seek advice from our Safeguarding Office Gay Butler by calling 07799 063404 or by emailing safeguarding@busheyparish.org, or if necessary report the matter to the Local Authority Social Care Services or the Police without delay.

 Visibility during livestreamed services

As we will shortly be returning to in-person worship in our Bushey churches, I wanted to inform you that we will continue to live-stream services for some time to come, and for some services, for the foreseeable future. This gives rise to the possibility that people attending church will be ‘seen’ on camera and therefore online. We do use fixed camera shots, directed mostly to show only the priest, deacon, readers and intercessors. We don’t deliberately include the congregation in our camera shots. However we wanted to alert you to this possibility, particularly if you are seated towards the front of the church in St James’s.

There will be in, all three churches, large areas in which you cannot be seen by the camera.

So, if you have concern about your visibility, or that of your children on-line during worship, please let the sidespeople know, and we can arrange for you to be seated in a part of the church where you will certainly not be b picked up by the camera and seen on-line.
