God, our judge and saviour,
teach us to be open to your truth

that we may live each day
with confidence in the salvation which is given
through Jesus Christ our Lord
On Saturday we are delighted to welcome the baritone Thomas Isherwood to St. James's, to give the lunchtime recital. His programme includes music by Vaughan Williams, Finzi, Schubert, and Richard Strauss. Accompanied by pianist Vidas Vaitkus, this promises to be a wonderful concert, and definitely one not to be missed! As always coffee and homemade cakes are served from 11am and light lunches are available after the recital all in Church House.
This weekend I would ask that as well as keeping Danielle, Andy, and their friends and family in your prayers, please could you pray on Saturday for all those attending the Bereavement Befrienders' Course at St. Paul's Church, and especially for Revd. Mary Kingsley who is leading the course.
I hope and pray that this finds you well, and look forward to seeing you over the weekend.
THANK YOU. What an absolutely amazing farewell service and send-off I had last weekend! I was completely overwhelmed to see some 230 people in church. There was some pretty stunning music from the choir (thanks to James, John et al) and thanks to all who organised the fizz and lunch afterwards, and especially to the kind staff of St. James Restaurant for offering their venue free for the lunch. I was also totally humbled by the very generous cheque that was presented to me and will enjoy looking for a nice piece of furniture to buy with it (amongst other things!). I remain deeply grateful to God for the immense privilege of serving the parish as Rector for the past five years.
“Masterful Clarinet! Luca is a noted Italian clarinetist and composer, having developed an enviable reputation as an instrumental virtuoso around the UK and overseas via recordings and concert hall appearances.” Musician Magazine (June 2008)
This week we welcome back Luca Luciano, for his third recital here at t. James's. This incredible musician will delight and amaze us with his virtuoso playing of various works composed and improvised by himself, and a rare chance to hear the John Cage Clarinet Sonata. Yet another Saturday Recital not to be missed! As usual coffee and cakes, from 1100, and light lunches, after the concert, will be served in Church House. I hope you can make it!
